Company of the Month July | Petrogas
In 2014, Petrogas entered Netherlands by purchasing all the outstanding shares of Chevron Exploration and Production Netherlands B.V. (CEPN) and its subsidiary Chevron Transportation B.V. (CT). Through the Chevron acquisition, Petrogas has interests in 11 offshore blocks on the Dutch Continental Shelf, and offshore & onshore crude oil and natural gas handling and transportation infrastructure. In total Petrogas now operates 6 offshore producing platforms in the Netherlands, with a manpower size of about 140 people.

Since above mentioned takeover, Petrogas has invested considerably in the Netherlands, achieving a significant milestone by safely constructing and installing its first offshore platform in Block A18, and successfully drilled 3 gas production wells. First gas was achieved in December 2015, only 14 months after Petrogas was established in the Netherlands. Subsequently, Petrogas has completed a farm in in Mozambique (onshore exploration asset) and purchased the European assets of PA Resources AB, which has added 6 exploration/ near development licences spread across the UK, Denmark, Netherlands and Germany. These are also now being managed from Petrogas’ Rijswijk office, where we recently moved to from Voorburg.
The bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of the Netherlands can be traced back to more than three centuries. In recent years the two friendly countries’ ties have grown deeper and wider and, in particular, in the cultural and economic spheres. Petrogas values the prevailing Dutch professional and business environment.
WestHolland Investment Agency, together with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency has thankfully extended support and help in easing Petrogas’s move and settling down in the Netherlands.
