The Hague celebrates Week of Justice

During the Week of Justice in The Hague from 18 to 23 April the city will see a flurry of activities related to the United Nations. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) will celebrate its 70-year-anniversary and King Willem-Alexander will perform the official opening of the new International Criminal Court and Supreme Court buildings. United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be visiting The Hague and will hold talks with students.

During the Week of Justice a number of activities will be organised in the city in the field of justice and international law. An overview of upcoming event:

Exhibition 70 years of the International Court of Justice
11 to 19 April in the Atrium of The Hague City Hall
After 29 April the exhibition will travel to a number of Dutch diplomatic posts abroad.

Instawalk through the Peace Palace and Supreme Court
The winners of a photography contest will take part in an Instawalk on Thursday, 21 April under the guidance of photographer Martijn Beekman (winner of the Silver Camera Award in 1996 and 2007) in the Peace Palace and Supreme Court. The photos will be shared on the Municipality of The Hague’s social media channels. Would you also like to take photos in special spots? You have until 13 April to be chosen for the Instawalk. Visit by laureates of Four Freedoms Awards
On Friday, 22 April 4 laureates of the Four Freedoms Awards will visit the Peace Palace and The Hague Institute for Global Justice.

Open House for Supreme Court
The Supreme Court will hold an Open House on 23 April when it commemorates its 200th anniversary, making it one of the oldest legal institutions in the Netherlands. More information under The Hague Freedom Weeks.
