The Hague wins fDi Euro Cities & Regions of the Future 2016/17

The Financial Times ranks The Hague as the number one mid-sized city in Europe in the category connectivity. Overall, The Hague is ranked in the Top-10 European cities when it comes to economic, business and financial strengths. Last week, a ceremony will be held in Cannes where the winners will receive their awards. From now on, The Hague can officially say it’s ready for the future. Data has proven it.

The intelligence division of the Financial Times fDi has ranked European cities based on their preparedness for the future. Data was collected for 481 locations (cities, regions and lager urban zones) under five categories: Economic Potential, Labour Environment, Cost Effectiveness, Infrastructure and Business Friendliness.

Locations could score up to a maximum of 10 points each category. The final scores resulted in the shortlist for “fDi European Cities and Regions of the Future 2016/17”, the most recent biannual publication of fDi’s shortlist. The Hague is winner of the subcategory Connectivity. In the overall ranking The Hague ended up in the Top-10. Data points in the category Connectivity concerned digital connectivity such as  upload and download speed, but also physical connectivity such as the number of (air)ports near the city and the physical infrastructure.
